The first time I had heard of Oddjob was through talking with a Mr. Jon Hastings. He said something about doing a back-up feature for Oddjob #2. Well, I certainly enjoy Jon’s work (a refreshing change of pace from years of Marvel superheroes) and picked up the book.

I was first intrigued by the artwork. A very interesting style in and of itself and decidedly more impressive computer artwork than the last computer illustration comic I read: Mike Saenz’s Shatter. But the writing struck me as amusing as well. Investigator of the odd, huh? This could be something cool.

And so I went ahead and picked up #s 1, 3 and 4. Also amusing. It was definitely a book worth keeping my eye on.

And then I bought #5. I laughed out loud, which caught the attention of my boss at work. (No, I was at lunch. Really.) The preserved brain of Jack Palance. "But I don’t wanna be the bear anymore!" A Jim Varney tattoo. "Alpacas! Aaaaaahhhhh!" "Le crap!" A Faberge squirt flower. A wedgie curse.

Funny stuff, guys! You just got added to my "pull list." Keep up the great work!

Thanks for all the gushing praise! Mr. Hastings is definitely a refreshing change from years of Marvel fare, and is in fact a nice guy who sometimes lets us hang around his booth at conventions. Sean gets the geek prize of the issue for name-checking Shatter, the first comic book billed as being done entirely on the computer, complete with giant blocky pixels and 16 bit color!

I just wanted to send you a mail to say that I greatly enjoy Oddjob. While I read mainstream super-hero fare the majority of the time, I also enjoy a quality book like Oddjob when I can get a hold of one. As a fellow English major, I respect the fact that you’ve found a way to balance a "job...job-type job" (Mr. Blonde reference), and a creative, funny excursion into the 4-color world known as comic books. Okay, the color part doesn’t really apply to you guys, but you get the idea.

Keep up the good work.
Sincerely, Adam Casto

P.S.: Dare I suggest an animated Oddjob (did I read something about that already?). I’d also like to see some more T-shirts. Thanks.
Actually, believe it or not, Moe was once optioned for a full length feature film! What happened? Nothing. That’s how Hollywood works. We’ve been considering doing some flash work, but it all has to do with the time we have to devote to it. We got an agent last year named Bruce Berman who has been trying to get a TV deal for us, so far we’ve had interest but no signed contracts. We’ll make a deal with you, if you cross your fingers for us, we’ll do our best to try and get Moe on the Silver Screen or the Boob Tube.

We are in the process of making new shirts, maybe we'll post some ideas and see which one people like the best. And as to that "job...job-type job," I currently am employed to write technical manuals for the thin server market, wow! Ty is employed as an illustrator for children's math books.

Ty and I love mail! Please send us more! I like to spread my letters out on my bed, and roll around on them, sometimes throwing them up in the air and cackling loudly until one of my roommates pounds on my door.

Oh yeah, we also edit for grammar and spelling, just so y’all won’t look like idiots...
